Emmy & Kieran Engagement Shoot

A great way to get to know a couple is by doing an engagement shoot.  Recently I spent a beautiful evening with Emmy and Kieran at Eastbourne Beach and captured these special photos.  We had a lot of fun and I knew photographing their wedding would be fun too.

Monique and Caleb

I really had my fingers crossed for Monique and Caleb to have fine weather on their special day.  Having a wedding in Autumn, when its starts getting dark by 5pm, is always a little disconcerting because I prefer to take photos with daylight and not in the dark.  But there is also one upside to having a wedding at this time in the year.  The timing can be perfect for some sunset photos after the ceremony and that is exactly what happened.  Monique and Caleb said they would really like to have some gorgeous photos of the two of them.  They looked fantastic together and Monique was a perfect model, even though at one stage she had to put up with hundreds of small flies while on the rocks by the sea.  The reception was filled with lots of laughs and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and the food at The Pines.  I’m sure they will look over the photos in years to come and reminisce over what a great day it was.

Helena and Ben

Two years ago I met Helena while photographing her sister’s wedding. To begin with the day felt like deja vu.  The sisters had their hair and make-up done at the same venues in central Wellington before heading back to Helena’s parents place to get dressed.  But from then on the wedding was colourful and unique. This was the first time I had photographed a Greek Orthodox wedding. It was a privilege and a great experience to witness and photograph such a lovely couple being married in the traditional Greek way. Parliament buildings and the surrounding gardens was the setting for the bridal party photos before heading to Dransfield House for the reception, where I was entertained watching a bit of horos or Greek dancing.  It was a lovely wedding enjoyed by all.  I only wish Helena’s parents had more daughters.
